Inspiring Appreciation for Architecture and Design Since 1989

The Iowa Architectural Foundation uses the power of architecture and design to engage the public, inspire learning, and strengthen communities across Iowa.

We believe everyone should have access to the tools and knowledge to understand—and help shape—the places where they live, work, and gather.

Who We Are

Founded as a statewide nonprofit, IAF serves as a bridge between architecture and the public. Through walking tours, lectures, exhibitions, youth education, and community partnerships, we make architecture approachable, relevant, and meaningful for people of all ages.

Our work emphasizes architecture not only as an art and profession, but as a civic force—one that supports resilient infrastructure, vibrant neighborhoods, and equitable, inclusive communities.
