Iowa is a vibrant, fascinatingly diverse state that boasts outstanding architecture from the Missouri to Mississippi Rivers. Whether it’s the old round barn on your neighbor’s farm or the Mies Van de Rohe building in downtown Des Moines - Iowa architecture is second to none. Whether you realize it or not, the buildings you see everyday are affecting you. As you eat, sleep, worship and work, architecture is impacting your life.

That’s why the Iowa Architectural Foundation (IAF) was established over 15 years ago: to promote architecture and its positive effects on the quality of life in Iowa. Founded in 1989, the IAF is a volunteer, nonprofit organization. The 23-member board of trustees is composed of architects, educators, and business leaders statewide. The IAF receives direct financial support and participation from other foundations, businesses and individuals who believe in the importance of building an understanding of this most public art.
