About the Program – Adventures in Architecture

DO YOU KNOW STUDENTS WHO ARE CURIOUS ABOUT HOW BUILDINGS ARE DESIGNED, OR EVEN HOW THEY STAND UP?

This weeklong day camp offers middle schoolers the opportunity to explore their interest in buildings and architecture. Open to students entering 7th and 8th grades, Adventures in Architecture Camp will include hands-on, immersive learning projects and first-hand encounters with design professionals who work in our communities.

Led by architects and designers amid the renowned architecture of Drake University, the camp will engage students in creative design processes as students work on real-world problems in team and individual settings. Students will learn about the tools and technology architects use to solve design problems, such as 3D printing, virtual reality, computer modeling, and hand drawing, while also developing their own problem-solving skills. Field trips throughout the week will immerse students in architecture studios and project sites. Adventures in Architecture Camp offers a meaningful opportunity for students to explore their interest in architecture while learning from esteemed professionals.

Early Release and Ice Cream Reception on Friday, June 24: The final camp day will include a parent/guardian reception starting at 1PM, when students will proudly display their projects! The camp day will end at 2PM.
