The Dilley Building’s history stretches back to 1882. Its legacy includes, among other businesses, Hawkeye Cord Tire Company, the first company in Iowa to produce auto tires: Beal’s Printing Company, which produced morale-boosting printed pieces during World War II, including postcards celebrating the contributions of the Women’s Army Corps; and Old Style Lager. After it was destroyed by fire, it was rebuilt in 1952 and hosted various businesses before returning to printing and lithography in seventies. Dilley Manufacturing Company printed book covers and binders in the building between 1971 and 2014.  Christensen Development purchased the building in 2014 and began building renovations with INVISION Architecture.  Iowa Taproom, whose owner emphasized the building’s rich history in their adaptive reuse, opened in 2015. Iowa Taproom’s owner, Jeff Bruning, sponsors a fundraiser each April called Eat. Drink. Architecture.
