Designed by Chicago’s Skidmore Owings & Merrill in 1984, this building is a classic example of 1980’s Modernism. It creates a transition place for street and skywalk level retail and pedestrian travel. At 150 feet, its atrium trusses were the largest steel fabrication erected in Iowa until the construction of Wells Fargo Arena. It is the home of the Iowa Center for Architecture, and the starting point for many Iowa Architectural Foundation walking tours.
