Community Design Excellence Awards
This program recognizes governmental organizations, subdivisions, non-governmental not-for-profit organizations, and/or local citizen groups for significant achievements in the promotion of new quality architecture, preservation of existing quality architecture or community design. The awards place emphasis on a project’s quality of design, the built environment’s impact on the quality of life within the community where the project is built, and the impact the project has had in bringing the community together in its support.
Consideration is given to community design projects that significantly impact the quality of life of a city or neighborhood and to groups that understand the importance of the built environment on a community’s social fabric and, through the rehabilitation of that environment, maintain a continued functionality and use.
In addition, consideration of new construction of architectural significance that contributes to or enhances the surrounding community environment is examined to be worthy of an award.
