2017 Lecture & Tour in Des Moines
The 2017 Architecture Month event is past. Check back after January 1, to find out what we have planned for April, 2018.
IAF’s FREE Talk & Tour Event is back for the eighth year!
This year’s event will begin with a tour of Rowat Cut Stone & Marble Company, 110 Southeast 7th Street, Des Moines. In business since 1882, Rowat has a rich history of distribution, fabrication and installation of a variety of natural cut stone for exterior and interior uses. The tour will provide attendees with an understanding of stone fabrication, stone restoration and the opportunity to see various types of granite, limestone, marble and quartz.
The group will then advance a short, two block walk to the Iowa State Bar Association conference center, 625 E Court Ave, Des Moines, IA, at 10:30 for an interactive presentation on the traditional art of stone carving and the use and types of stone on notable buildings throughout Iowa.
