Do you know students with a curiosity into how buildings are designed, or maybe even how they stand up?

This summer, students have the opportunity to explore their interest in buildings and architecture through Iowa Architectural Foundation’s free summer camp, a collaborative effort of IAF and Des Moines Public Schools. Adventures in Architecture Camp offers students in grades 6th – 8th a hands-on design experience, providing valuable insights into the role architects and designer play in our communities. Led by professional architects and designers, the camp will engage students in the creative design thinking and making processes as students work on real world design problems in team and individual settings.  Students will learn about the tools and technology architects use to solve design problems, like 3D printing, virtual reality, computer modeling, and hand drawing while developing their own problem-solving skills. Field trips throughout the week will immerse students in real life architecture studios and project sites. Adventures in Architecture Camp offers a meaningful opportunity for students to explore their interests in architecture while gaining real life experience from esteemed professionals.

Campers may register through the Des Moines Public Schools Virtual Backpack portal. (Registration link coming soon!). For additional information, and a complete itinerary of the week, you may contact
